When you’re getting closer to finishing school, it can feel like everyone is asking the same question: “What are you going to do when you leave?”

If you don’t know yet, you’re definitely not expected to have everything worked out.

At Barossa Enterprises, we can help you start exploring what work might look like for you. We’ll talk about what you enjoy, what you’re good at, what you’d like to try and what kind of support could help you along the way.

You might already know what sort of job you’d like. You might have a few ideas. Or you might have absolutely no idea yet. That’s all okay.

Give different things a go

One of the best ways to work out what you like is to try it.

Work experience gives you the chance to spend time in a real workplace and see what different jobs are actually like. You can try new tasks, meet new people, learn how a workplace runs and build skills you can use in the future.

You might find that you enjoy working outdoors, making or fixing things, helping people, working as part of a team or having a regular routine. You might also try something and realise it’s not for you. That’s useful too—it helps you work out what you might want to try next.

Get ready for work

There are lots of things you can start learning while you’re still at school.

We can help you with things like writing a resume, practicing job interviews, communicating with people at work and understanding what employers expect. We can also help you think about practical things, like how you’ll get to work and what support you might need when you’re there.

You don’t have to learn everything at once. We’ll work with you on the things that are important for your goals.

You’ll have people in your corner

Moving from school into work can feel like a big change, but you don’t have to work it all out on your own.

We can work with you, your family, your school and the other people who support you. And when you get a job, we can continue supporting you as you settle in, learn new tasks, get to know your workmates and become more confident in your role.
